Dr. Jie Zhang, CEO of Cello Therapeutics, has been elected as one of 87 new members to the United States National Academy of Engineering (NAE) as announced on 6th Feb. 2020. Election to the Academy is one of the highest professional honors an engineer can receive. Dr. Zhang's induction is for his invaluable contributions to “advances in earthquake seismology, geophysical imaging, and medical technology."
Dr. Zhang’s achievements span multiple fields and include over 170 technical publications in high impact journals and more than 50 technology products. In the medical industry, he led efforts to develop digital medical X-ray systems for early diagnosis, as well as biomedical formulations for cancer treatment.
Dr. Zhang has founded or co-founded six high tech companies during the last 20 years. In addition, he has served as a member of the MIT visiting committee (2011-2019), a board governor of the Asia School of Business in Malaysia (2018-present), and a lecturing professor of the University of Science and Technology of China (2019-present).
